to expensive. would be surprised if they shoot better than one of my cheap design slingshots, which cost around 5 bucks for the material to make.

While I don't have the capitol to spend on a SS like that, I think it's unfair to suggest it is over-priced or compare them to a "Y" shaped stick based on price. They are obviously machine made, but probably not in vast quantities. You have assembly hardware, para-cord that would be hand wrapped. And made in the USA (this isn't an automatic mark of "superior" quality, but it does mean higher labour costs just like if it was made in central western Europe). It likely comes in commercial packaging as well. This all costs money. Unfortunately, many folks into DIY type hobbies don't appreciate the real costs of producing something they can make themselves. And those same "hobbyists" sometimes sell their work at prices that reflect little of actual cost, further adding to the "that's overpriced" claims. This is why I stopped doing stained glass. To many hobbyists, like my Dad, that do it to keep busy and sell at craft fairs for prices that barely cover material costs. That's completely fine and I'm glad him and others enjoy doing it, but it really screws anyone that want's to make a living at it.
I don't mean to high jack or be a kill-joy, just want people to keep in mind the reality of manufacturing and selling commercially as apposed to the "give away" prices people charge, including members here, for their work.

Nice looking SS's Meeeeee. Are you the maker or "in the know" with the company?

Notice he did not answer the question on who he is

Yes I would agree that his pieces are nice and that justifies his $13.95 for shipping and recently raised price up 30% to $129+,right? Now I am sure that the cost of making them has gone up 30% in a few months? Love to have one but out of my reach.

yer you are right, i have to agree. if you take around 15 dollar per hour, and thats not much, and lets say you need all in all 8 hours to make a beautiful slingshot, than its about 120 dollars, without material.
i figured that out during knife making, mine are still to cheap.

As far as appearance goes, it is not the prettiest slingshot out there. But I believe Mr Sprave's review to be spot on. He said the under $100 dollar price tag was great, and he liked the slingshot a lot. I trust his judgement.

For the survivalist fan, it's sturdy, multi-purpose adaptive, accommodates any size band or ammo, perfect for TTF shooters in hammer grip or thumb/index finger style, various creative ways to attach paracord... Lots of options. It would be a fun slingshot to play with.

I would LOVE to get one of these for Christmas. Daddy, if you're spying on me... hint, hint... [IMG]

I as well trust Jorge Sprave and if it was not for him I would not have rediscovered these wonderful slingshots. Unfortunately they have raised the price to $129+. It is now May and I do not see any info on being able to order one at the $100 price. Is there something I have missed? Is there a way to order one at the lesser price? I would love to order one but it remains even more out of reach at the $129+ that they are being sold at on his site. Ouch

You are correct, Traveler. I had not noticed that they are now $129+. I guess we're gonna need to sacrifice a bit more. No more Starbucks for a whole month. Laughing...

I still think it is a very good deal. Considering the cost of materials, labour, and fingers. It's very well made--virtually indestructible. I think it doesn't say on the website, but you could also cinch tubes as well as flats. It's very lightweight and accurate, so good for tossing into the backpack and UL mountain climbing.

I still want one! Among a few others. [IMG]

I'm still adding this to my GROWING Christmas slingshot wish list. But what color do I want? Zombie Apocalypse?

As a fan of slingshots I also think this product is worth its price.
but maybe someone who does not know much about slingshot certainly think it is a very high price (including my mother does not want me to buy it).
I'll probably give it away to myself the next Christmas, I like aluminum finish and black paracord.

Hi, I'm new to the whole slingshot world and do not have much to spend, (though I just ordered a new Milbro Pro Shot Howitzer bronze). That means I'm dead in the water for the next few months on any more new ones. As I am also pretty new to using forums I have to apologize for coming on as strong as I have and did not mean to offend. Thank you for being so kind about this Thistle. Look forward to learning as much as I can.

Traveler, not to worry. You're fine. I'm pretty sure that none of us took offense at anything you said. We understand budget crunches. I want EVERYTHING I see -- unfortunately. [IMG]

And welcome to the forum! We're happy to have you!! [IMG]
