Even if I go on some bodies nerves with all my Posting of different slingshots, I can´t stop
building and shooting…

This is what I have done yesterday evening, it was a very quick project inspired by Failureisalwaysanoption because he mentioned, that the Fork
of the BIG BOB is too high.

It starts working in my head, an as I know, the thread on the big M14 clamp is not going
down all the way, I use a M10 stainless steel threaded rod, bend it, cut it,
and welded another M12 threaded rod to it.

I know, welding time is long ago, so be kind with me, even the welding will not be seen
later.

Then I grind down the cap nuts, (this kind of nuts was much easier to bring in my desired
form)

At the end I used a drill to smooth out the surface.

Then took some FIMO as you can see…

As you know, that I am a fan of 2K epoxy, so I did the finish with 2K epoxy.

And voila...For the ugly thread I used a normal heat shrink on both sides.

The whole Project took me about 4 hours.
During the hardening of the FIMO, I cut some extra long bans and a pouch for full pull.

I know, it is not as nice as the BIG BOB, but it´s a very hard and accurate shooter. The
first results are even better then the BIG BOB.
Know it´s time for some more shooting. On monday evening we had a smal shooting session with a frind of mine who is totaly new in slingshots, and it was a lot of fun. May be you want to see some Fotos...?

    Super cool!
Funny, when I saw your last one, I was going to suggest cap nuts, but forget to. Glad to see your a mind reader. Great job reshaping the cap nuts.
Couple thoughts regarding working with metal: Stainless rod is fine, but for those opting for cheaper plated threaded rod, don't breath the fumes when welding. They are toxic. Zinc poisoning sucks and does brain damage. Same goes for the cap nuts.
LW: I've seen much worse welds from Pro's! It's the strength that counts. If I may suggest: To get better weld surface area, bevel the end of the handle rod to a cone shape, with a flat point about 2mm in Dia. This will allow the weld arc to "dig in" deepest and give you the best joint design for strength. Having said that, it's likely overkill, but good practice and the more chance for success, the better. And better than a fork in the eye.
