I assume it was his first account... I came across this while looking up information on the german paratrooper gravity knife ... I was thinking on acquiring one by some means even though its legality is ... well its not here

Sure, that is my video, too.

I used a different channel back then to not dillute my slingshot channel. I guess I have done that anyway by now. Oh well.

The knife works pretty good! And it is fully legal still.

Just curious, what makes this legal? Inertia is the same as gravity no?

According to the vid, as long as a gravity knife doesn't automatically lock open and requires two hands to lock it's legal (in Germany). Note he has to use his off hand to tighten the locking bolt once the blade is open. Gotta love those legal loopholes!

No, without locking there is no serious stabbing. But you can cut without locking.

I love the gravity knife, but I cant own one here in Calif. Its ilegal

@zamarion: being kind of a knife collector I'd recommend the Kabar tactool, same shape but a little shorter, definitely pricier and a lot stronger. cammilus bellied up a few years back and the name was bought by United cutlery. the carnivore is right at the edge (pun intended) of being too long for 440 steels, they tend to break at that length. if you're looking for a knife that you can beat the crap out of and will come back for more abuse, I'd recommend the Indian or Napali kukri. the Indian one can be had for about $20 + shipping. If you want serrations on the blade take a triangular or round file and give it as many "teeth" as you like. I've used mine to hack down a tree and then used it as a froe with a crescent wrench to split the log.
