Iron acetate

    Hi guys anyone ever used iron acetate to ebonise a slingshot , seen it done on oak and looks kinda cool i am thinking about doing it to the Ardvark when it"s finished . will upload pic.

    Hi,
    if anyone want to make slingshots in a colour like ebony...
    ... in Germany we had a trick in former times.

    Take pearwood because of its very fine woodfibres.
    Paint it with sulphuric acid ( 1:20 water).
    Heat it up to 60-90°C.
    The wood will be black now.
    To neutralise the wood take soda and water.
