When I went to camp a whole back I found this cool looking piece of wood and have no ideas what to do with it as a project. Can any one suggest something.

Quick tip: The lines on the surface were created by worms so make sure that there are non left before you place it near any other wood.

might make cool custom file/handtool handles. The grub tracks should give great grip, and they look cool IMO.

That's what I would go for.

@Saderath: putting it into the microwave/oven kills them(if they are still in)

you are mistaken, I've had pieces go through a full microwave drying, made the slingshot, had it fail during stress test, and had live meal worms tumble out.

My girlfriend Nora is collecting bugs. We discussed with professionals about this and some of them put their beetle into the fridge to kill smaller bugs inside the larger body. Useful if you want to keep a Goliath Beetle for years. Otherwise it's eaten up by attacking of smaller insects.

They put it in the fridge (freezer part) for a night long. I don't know if it works for wood (may needs to be wrapped and dried) but perhaps this info can help somehow.

Time is important! A wasp or a fly still can be "reanimated" after 3hrs of freezing.

    Bests,

If you shape it so it fits your hand, and perhaps add some weight to the business end, it seems like it could be a first-rate head knocker/attitude adjuster:D

@Dolo: Are you sure they were still alive or just moving?
After being heated to more than 120°C?
