Hi, I was wandering the tubes a few weeks ago when I found the Zombie Squad forums. I was looking through the non-firearm weapon section and kept finding topics made by a JoergS, with various comments about his designs. That led me to the slingshot channel and to these forums.
At the time I was considering buying a crossbow, but after watching some of Joerg's videos I think it would be much cheaper, and much much more fun to figure out how to make one myself. I have a lot of questions however, and I want to get as much info as I can before I start constructing anything, the only problem is I am not entirely sure which forum would be appropriate to put my questions in, so I would love if someone would point me in the right direction.
An example of one of my questions would be:
what is the best way to attach a string to a frame? I know Joerg likes to use a clamp method, but what parts should I use? how should I make it?
I have a lot more to ask but again I don't want to end up putting it in the wrong place.

I would just purchase some marine grade faileads (im a sailor) and you cant get a sturdier rig than that. Sailing stoppers are designed to withstand hundreds to thousands of kg of pressure

Check these out: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=484431&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=50045&subdeptNum=50083&classNum=50085

I'm sorry, pardon me, I used the completely wrong word in my first post. By "string" I meant band. He mentioned in the Montie Gear Slingshot Review that he posted a little over a week ago that he really liked the clamp on method and it allowed for a lot of versatility of bands. I was wondering in that specific question how you/I would make such a clamp, and what materials would be used.

If the fairleads are the answer, I hate to sound ignorant, but considering I am not a sailor I do not know what is attached where or how to theoretically set up the fair leads on the crossbow. If this isn't the method to use you can ignore this question.

But this all kind of diverges from my main question I had to ask, and that is: which forum is the best place to ask all these sorts of questions?

Thanks for the input on the fairleads, I will keep it in mind if I need to clamp string.

welcome, the general section is best to post questions, there are also a lot of question asked already, if you look around a lot of your questions may be answered, if not, just ask
