i saw some guys shooting arrows with table tennis balls with a few drilled holes just behind the tip of the arrow. this idea wouldn't work for slingshots because the ball is turning during the flight.

does anyone know how to make simple whistling balls? i know there do exist dog fetching whistle balls, but they are too big for normal slingshots and not easy to make, i think. dunno how they look like on the inner side.

That would be my advice too! If you drill a hole through a 20mm steel ball and the edges of the hole are nice and sharp, there may occur a whistling sound! Actually a very nice idea to make whistling ammo! Thanks!

I think drilling a hole would do the trick

I wonder if they would fly straight...? Or will they make a curve in the air...

I was wondering the same, if it will affect the accuracy and the air resistance??? But it would be fun to shoot, for sure.

it will surely not be very accurate. but for me it doesn't matter. it just has to be loud, cheap and easy to build. just for fun, not deadly.

or for signals if you're stuck in a forest with two broken legs, too weak to whistle with your lips, heheh ... then i also would attach a glow stick to be seen at night ...

Maybe you could make some out of clay

Hex nuts whistle sometimes, I heard M8 whistling. Smaller M6 never.. That's also why hunters don't use it, because the game hears the sound.

They might be useful to alert the squirrel so he can duck just in time.

Might be easier to figure this out if you drill some holes in gum balls.
