We had a bit of a storm on friday so the first thing I thought of (after checking the animals were ok) was heading down the woods to look for fallen branches!

Most of the branches down weren't suitable, either straight or soft conifer but I did find something interesting.

Hidden down by the banks of a river was a large Oak branch. I chopped off the forks I could find and also a straight piece as I wanted to make a candle holder for my mothers birthday.

Removed the bark from the straight piece and it has lovely spalting running through it, happy days! Can't wait to see whats under the bark on the forks. Going to take it slow drying them then try my best to do them justice :)

There is plenty of material to work with!
