Ive really enjoyed seeing alot of the youtube videos of the various slingshot designs and ideas, and being a skilled machinist i cant help but want to try my hand at design and building my own master of disaster lol. I have to say im hooked on the rollers idea for extending the draw length, as well as the pitched forward fork idea to again extend the draw length.

With that i wanted to have the bands clamped at the top of the handle and run the bands down through the handle, where they would either go around a roller or at the very least a radii at the bottom of the handle. Then run the bands out and around a y shape forks with again rollers with guides to keep the bands from slipping off. The forks would be at an angle of about 45 to 60 degrees to the handle, that would allow me to pitch the slingshot forward to get the best draw and allow me to shoot over the top of the band clamp.at the top of the handle.

    Hi dustin k,
To me your explanations are a bit confusing ( i don' t know for the others). Maybe it will help if you make a drawing and post it.

The idea is there now its just a matter of how to actually make it lol. And from what to actually make it. I mean i can either make all the components, or try and make most of it and source some of it. I just dont know if machined rollers over a shoulder bolt would be good enough or to try and find some sealed bearings for the rollers.

my only other concern right now from a design stand point is that all of joerg's slingshots that use rollers are all in some sort of "H" shape. And i was going to use more of a "Y" shape. I just dont know if theres a reason he hasnt used rollers in a "Y"shape design that i dont know about

hallo Dustin Kehl, Even if the roller extended band is made in the Y shaped fork, it wont give much draw length because in the Y shaped fork the two arms are short and they almost run inwards into your hand grip.
The H shape allows long bands to extend on the both sides of your grip towards bottom. The grip can be centralized, raised or lowered until you get stabilization.
For the Y fork if you want enough long draw, you will have to make the two arms very long. This will create pressure on your wrist and grip and wont be stable(even after attaching braces).
But Here is a video of Joerg's special V desigh, which allows long draw, and becomes a mighty disaster shooter.

As you are a skilled Machinist, you can make many modifications and ideas by studying this slingshot.
...
......
...
