Ok so im new to shooting slingshots and im trying to get more accurate. Im hoping you guys can give me some tips and tricks. Right now im shooting gangster style hammer grip with a homemade ott. Im shooting iron ore pellets so they aren't that consistent. I tried instinctive aiming but that definitely didnt work. Now I use my top fork as a aiming reference.

Please some tips on aiming and accuracy and also ss set up too.

Right setup makes a huge difference. Put a set of tube bands on a sort of PVC starship I made and was surprised at my sudden accuracy.

All I can say is keep trying, experimenting, until you find what is right for you.

I agree with Ghosth, experimenting. An ancient saying, "there is no perfect balanced sword and there is a perfect balanced sword, every swordsman is different, with different form."
For me what worked is the same method I learned for spear and knife throwing. First making sure my shooting form was consistent, even if it didn't hit the spot I wanted but rather hit the same spot. Than I know I was able to adjust the way I sighted. Than starting up close and gradually making distance between me and the target. And for moving target practice I shoot at balloons hanging from string (when a little breezy.) Happy shooting.

thanks. i like your philosophy. it makes sense. i do tend to shoot consistent just not on target lol

  5. Moin moin,

The most important ... übn practice practice ....
The second most important - Setup !
First correct ammo , I prefer 8mm steel ball ! Which are favorable for the rich and tin cans .
Adjust the latex bands , take a pouch , with which one can cope , as small as possible .... bigger harder than softer !
Currently i like soft leather, give leave when the ball is not such a hard hitting , and can beat them in a different direction .
Look at the clips of Tobse times , here you can see that sometimes the line, or at the end of the pouch gets a smack the ball ..... not beautiful

Then, very important .... releasing the pouch .... here we are again practicing practicing practicing .....

    -
Goals : either as Gamekeepre , or Bill , say it!
I think Gängsterstyl , and goals of the fork ! , The Butterfly , I put the tape on the cheek ! - Practice practice practice before ...... slowly infringe !
For destinations further away , I put the tape on the lower cheek to the objectives of the fork remains unchanged .....

    And practice practice practice .....

This is how i like to shoot. Practicing on moving targets helps a lot for accuracy on non moving ones.

8m is the distance. If i open the street door and shoot from outside i got 13m but i don' t do it anymore cuz people are staring at me or, sometimes, they stop and keep watching me shooting. When i shoot outside( in the fields with my portable catchbox) i count 10 steps from the target. I saw a vid from LGD where he shows a simple sight system. Gamekeeper John made a simple sight too. If you didn' t already saw it, i can search those vidz and post them here.

I shoot instinctive. The way I started was close to a large target, like 1 metre square at five paces. As my shooting stance and anchor point solidified I just kept moving back and using smaller targets. Getting the muscle memory down so you no longer think about pouch or stance--just target, is key.

I still have a long ways to go before I can hit gnats (like Arturo and Saderath).:)

It was important to me to be hitting something. Like Thorsten said: #1 practice.

You will be surprised at just how 100 consistent shots will make you more accurate.

Thanks for the links guys! I have so much to learn I really don't know the right questions to ask yet.
So seeing different guys shooting is helping a lot.

Yes that is, muscles (and whole body) memory, must be automatic and natural as you walk, you don't calculate because you "know" = hypothalami, like an acrobat and that requires practice, practice ad eternum ... another KEY for consistent accuracy is RELEASE (again practice ad eternum), you can have all sorts of aids references sights, lines over the bands etc but if your RELEASE isn't polished there will be no consistence, in my opinion mastering a slingshot is 90% mastering RELEASE, in good days I can do several (10 or more) shoots over a 1" diameter or cut a card in less than 5 shoots and always hit a bottle top at first attempt from 10 meters, then changing position (distance) it takes no more than one or two shoots to re-focus again, of course I have (very) bad days (as all mortals) and the problem is always about RELEASE, simply not flowing as should be ...
that's my thought learned by practice ...
    Cheers
    Arturo
PS, my motivation to empathize RELEASE seen LGD starship with the sight aid mechanism which is cool as a "aimer" he is, BUT he has a polished RELEASE, most "aimers" do not mention the importance of this issue and tend to give more importance to "references" but for sure they has developed an "intuitive" aspect they usually don't like to mention (I don't know why)
