After seeing Joerg's Hammerhead, I had to make one. Okay, I had to make two. I decided to go with Ironwood and crushed turquoise for the handles of the second one. I'm not quite happy with it and will do some more polishing before I call it done.

I like it, how do you get the turquoise in there?

I crush it with a hammer and work it down inside the crack and then flood it with thin superglue. It polishes back just like the rest of the wood.

Ryan, I really enjoyed making this one and it feels great in the hand, but I can't shoot hammer grip to save my life. When I shot the multiplex version, I had several nasty handslaps. The design is great, the performance use due to poor technique. I showed it to some family this evening and they were all just smitten with it. One of my sisters wanted to take it home to Colorado with her. It's still here with me

Try using bigger ammo or just wear gloves, that should stop handslaps.

Yeah, I think Joerg really reinvented the wheel here, I'm making one for myself as well.

Very nice, man. I really like the Jewel-luster crack repair. I bet with a little drunken microwaving I could make cracks all over.
When I get the hand-slaps I shoot bigger ammo.

    Great job!

And yes, you have to use heavier ammo, or lighter bands. The tourqoise idea is brilliant, in two ways

I'm already planning on some different directions with this design concept this coming weekend.
