Hello!

I'm Camo-Sling from slinging.org, and have been slinging for years! Before slinging I would make small sling shots and frequently use them! I somehow figured out tapered bands were better than tubes at a young age, however, I didn't know why or how.

I have been very interested in the crossbows, bullpup and pistol designs Joerg has created. That's what brought me to the website!

For those who haven't seen what the sling can do, I also make videos highlighting its properties from destruction to its accuracy which is very difficult to achieve.

I'll post some videos below:

Slinging for Accuracy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7oKRj-OUV4

Sling vs Laptop:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_EmrIJmkfo

Hope some of the community here are fans of slinging too!

Haha It does take a little practice, and by little, I mean a lot. But if you are lucky enough to know someone who knows how to use them, get them to teach you and you should be slinging in the direction of your target in no time!

No, however, I should make a video of how I hold it and release the sling.

In the mean time, the sling's loop is merely slipped on your middle finger or ring finger. To release the sling you merely let go of the knotted end and time it so the direction of the rock flies straight.

Tennis Balls dramatically lose speed very quickly, so with a sling, you can only really get 50-70 meters per second. However, that's a guesstimate as I have never actually tested a tennis ball through a chrony. I'm not great or have researched measuring the speeds of the sling, so feel free to check it out yourself too.

Here's a thread on slinging tennis ball speeds - http://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1339861833/0

With a stone 100-130 grams, 45 m/s is attained according to this video -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWHV2WYdfTI

With glands, or bi-pointed lead or steel ammunition, we have never recording feet per second.

However, we do know the longest confirmed distance with a sling is 477 meters with a dart and 437 meters with a stone.

Nice shooting and technique.
I think i know why you put an helmet,... It is because you live in a dangerous neighborwood where tennis balls are flying from everywhere.
Makes me think of the movie" Ballz n the Hood"...
