Thats right, they are not "cheap", but you can´t make one of those in one hour, so i think the price is fair.
i also wouldn´t carry it around in my backpocket every day, but they are nice as a persent maybe and there are other people who sell durable slingshots for everyday-use, right?

i am commissioning him to do my birthday present to myeslf . i told him to do whatever he wanted, pretty much. I consider him to be an artist at the top of his game, so I couldn't resist .

Nathan makes absolutely beautiful slingshots, his attention to detail is amazing and chooses great combination of woods to laminate definitely a collector's piece!

Yes, he is a great slingshot maker. I met him at the ECST, the man is practically glowing with enthusiasm.

He said he might someday send a slingshot to me for a review, but it seems he is getting too many orders already... good for him!

From what I saw in Alverton, just about everything he makes it top notch - and he is using a very original design.

when i first saw his slingshots, i assumed he must be middle aged but he seems so young. I cannot imagine the quality of his slingshots, 20 years from now.

    Hello, FlippinOut here!

Thanks for all the kind words and it is so refreshing to have a new forum and group of enthusiast to chat with.

Yes, I am guilty of making functional art called slingshots. However, it should be known that I am a shooter at heart and there has never been a slingshot leave my shop that would not be perfectly at home and fully functional in the field.

I take a lot of time to make sure each slingshot is made to withstand the rigors of daily use and abuse and still look, shoot, and perform as it should- 100%

A few of the things i do to each and every slingshot:

- all sharp edges are radiused to minimize wear on those spots
- each frame is sanded to at least 400 grit and often to 1200 grit, this begins to burnish the surface of the wood to close the grain.
- Each frame is coated in multiple layers of catalyzed conversion varnish. The same stuff that goes on kitchen cabinets and high end furniture. This finish is considerably harder, more waterproof, and durable than spar urethane or the best poly finish. The result is long lasting durability of the finish, extreme weather resistance, and lasting beauty!
-All fork tips are impregnated with CA glue, polished, and all band tie ins are very high on the fork. This creates a fork tip that is durable, band friendly, and fork hit resistant by nature.
- Each slingshot is made one at a time, by my own hands and assessed for quality at multiple points during the build.
- I make all of my laminates in house, this allows me to guarantee that every glue joint is structurally sound, wood grain is oriented in a manner that is most aesthetically pleasing and structurally viable.
- All of the multiplex I use is custom made by a manufacturer in Maine, USA of parallel laminated yellow birch. The SpectraPly is made from individually dyed layers of birch, laminated under extreme pressure with RF glues. It is many times stronger than the best baltic birch and takes a finish like none other. The phenolic resin impregnated multiplex from the same manufacturer has twice as many laminations as standard baltic birch per given thickness and is extremely dense, strong, and heavy- not to mention it is amazingly beautiful when finished.
- All FlippinOut slingshots utilize SuperSure Products Brand bonded leather pouches. These pouches are bonded cow and pig leather, allowing for an extremely thin and lightweight pouch that will not deform and stretch with heavy bands or extended use.

Those are just a few of the many details that go into each and every FlippinOut Slingshot. As such, quality such as this cannot come with a price tag equivalent to a Baltic birch board cut that was finished in an hour- I have to eat too!!

When you consider the strength, level of finish, durability and purpose built design of these slingshots, they really start to become a tremendous value. Barring fire, theft, or loss- these slingshots will last a lifetime of daily use and still look like a million bucks!

Check out my "Enthusiast Grade" line at flippinoutslingshots.com. These slingshots are made from custom, in-house "FlippinPlex" laminates, and the FlippinOut Exclusive SpectraPly and DymaLux multiplex materials.

However, my greatest love is creating custom slingshots for the discerning slingshot enthusiast. I take great pleasure in collaborating with slingshot afficianados to create a slingshot that is uniquely their own. Drop me an email and let's get started, I can promise you won't find a better crafted slingshot anywhere else in the world!

And Joerg!! Expect a package in the post. I have not forgotten your very gracious and generous offer. And thank you for supporting the sport we all love!!

Cheers,

Nathan
Owner and Craftsman
FlippinOut Slingshots
