first wooden slingshot

    This is still very much a work in progress, but I wanted to share some pictures and get some feedback and advice. It is intended to be a hammerhead. The core is made of solid red oak and the sides are from redwood

    A very good job on your first, Will! It looks pretty good to me. [​IMG]

    It might help to tell us what YOU want to do with it. What are your finishing plans, etc.

    Thanks for the comments! I'm not quite sure exactly what I am going to be using it for, I will likely just shoot it in my yard at my ball trap target. Probably going to start out with two layers of Thera band gold on a shorter draw length until I get used to it. As far as finish it, I just love the color of natural redwood, so I think I'll just give it some nice coats of tung oil. I wasn't able to cut it across the grain, as my board was just a bit too narrow. However, I put a very strong test load on the core piece and it never showed any signs of failing.

    I'm sure pictures will not do the finished ss justice--redwood has such beautiful deep luster. Looking good!

    looks good so far, I'm curious how the wood will look like after the finish, which finsh you will choose?

    Really great Work for your first and a nice Finish :D
    Repays better than I can work with Wood, and the little uneven on the Fork not fall on when you Shoot ;)
