Here are the finished pictures. I was planning to apply a tung oil finish, but I found that my can of oil had somehow become tung tar and could not be used. So I settled for a polyurethane spray finish.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the comments! As for the wood, it is 1" red oak for the core and redwood for the rest. Looking forward to doing another very soon

That is veeery nice! It looks like it's made by nature, like it grew up from the ground.

I love tung oil and redwood. But your redwood and oak turned out super! [IMG]

If this is your "first" I can't wait to see what else you've got lined up. More good stuff coming I assume?

Thanks very much! I am currently working on a natural that I harvested from my peach tree last year. Unfortunately, it is beginning to crack...hopefully it will not split entirely!

I really like the way this turned out, Will.

Maybe your Tung tar can be brought back to life with the right solvent. However the poly gloss suits the redwood IMO, and the water resistance is a nice feature.

Let us know how it shoots. Sweet job.

Very Nicely done! If you have not shot that yet, I'm telling you that it likes Fat ammo. IMHO they slap pretty good too. Band it and feed it right and the zombies will run when they see you coming.:D
