OK guys, since I learned I was using my slingshot all wrong, I decided to edit it. Being a side-shooter, I don't need that giant handle on it so I removed it. Here's a before and after, let me know what you think.

Looks original but i think it was better before. The most important is how it feels for you, if you shoot better with it now... Nice work.

I 'm with tokSick. Nice slinshot. If it shoots better for you without it......

This is all what matters. Everybody has personal preferences. There is no right or wrong.

I tried diffenent thickness on the handle and also different width.

I still haven't found the perfect one for me.

But I would not cut it off. I would miss the touch on my palm.

I think yougoing to have problems with that. When you shoot finger supported it's true that your palm around the grip doesn't do much. However, your pinky and possibly ring finger suppoort the force of the grip moving away from you. I don't know if I'm wording that correctly, but I think you'll see what I mean if you actually do it. I have seen people, including actual manufacturers, use a gripless design. So it must work somewhat, but I don't see how you would support the force of heavy bands with it.

This thing was really huge, I can still rest all my fingers on the handle if I wish, or let my pinky float. And the whole of it is still supported by my palm as usual. I can pull back full strength no problem with it. I really like the shaping I was able to do and am excited to start practice making forks for the zodiac contest. Even if I never win, I'll have a bunch of cool slingshots and more experience making and shaping.

That's the one advantage I find with finger-braced shooters. They can be very short and compact. I've seen a few that have no real handle at all, just an extra groove for the middle finger to grab.

mjnilles, did you try shooting with it? The big handle was a pull back counter weight against the pull force of the rubber.
But if you like the new shape, and can shoot well, try attaching a rope brace, you will like it more.
