Finished my first Slingshot today.

It's just a Multiplex Cutout, at first i wanted to leave it like its was cut out. But then i started thinking to put a little more Work into it.

Here is the finished Product:

I used Fimo Clay for the Ergonomic Grip (inspired by Jörg's Homemade). Then i sanded and polished it, came out pretty well i guess. Just added some white spraypaint and clear varnisch.

Now im sitting here, waiting for the Rubber to be delivered. Then i'm gonna test it out.

Cheers,
Moik

    Thx for the Copliment's

About the Hole, there's one on the right side also. At first i got some Tubular Rubber from a Fishing Store nearby, and to attach it I bend 2 Nails at a 80° angle, screwed the Hole's through the Fork for the Nails. Here's a nice Paint drawing of it, to understand it better maybe.

But the Rubber is ment for Bait Slingshots and are not that stressable. So I orderd some Theraband and worked out the Slingshot like it is now.

How does the multiplex handle being baked in an oven for half an hour at 110° Celsius? Isn't that a problem? Does it affect the wood negatively?

I ask because I also have a homemede slingshot made from multiplex that was meant to be a hammergrip shooter, but it was my first design and the handle is horrible. Maybe it can be salvaged by narrowing the handle and wrapping it with FIMO.

I have another slingshot with a FIMO Handle and I love the ergonomics. Nothing beats a grip that has been custom molded to you own hand.

Asked the same Question to myself before I put it in there. I googled a bit and came across someone who said that the burning point of wood is about 220 C°. And Multiplex is pretty dried, so i thought that drying cracks shouldn't be a problem. Worked fine for me, but i can't garantue u that it's working for ur Slingshot as well. My Slingshot was clear varnished before, because i don't wanted to add something to it in the first Place. Maybe the clear varnish had an affect to the whole Process. I'd say it worth a shot.

Your Handle should have a rough Surface before wrapping the Fimo around. That's what i did wrong. As i got it out of the Oven the Grip slipped a bit up and down, but after it hardend completely it's stuck. A little tip to reduce the potential Risk of not working out as u want it to.

Hope that helped a bit.

EBay. The cheapest that i found. Just take a look at the delivery cost, some want 7 euros for the delivery of 2 Euro fimo
