Hello all this is my first natural fork build and i took a few pictures along the way of its creation and thought I would post it here to share with the group. <br><br>First Phase was to collect a nice fork and get it thick enough to be strong.<br><a href="http://imgbox.com/acr744LC" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/acr744LC.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a> <br><br>2nd phase was to De-bark the fork and get it ready for the microwave(for drying)<br><a href="http://imgbox.com/acueLUQk" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/acueLUQk.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a> <br><br>3rd phase was to draw the design i was going with onto the fork after it was dried.<br><a href="http://imgbox.com/abqlMv8R" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/abqlMv8R.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a> <br><br>4th step was to rasp away at it to get the general shape formed properly. then sand it down with 80grit,180,220 then a 600 grit.<br><a href="http://imgbox.com/abwf7ekv" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/abwf7ekv.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a> <br><br>5th phase was a 24 hour bath in raw linseed oil. Due to the cracks in the wood from the drying process i thought it would be a good idea for the hardening properties of the linseed oil to go for a full soak.<br><a href="http://imgbox.com/adfuzKQc" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/adfuzKQc.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a> <br><br>6th and final phase was to let it air dry for about 5 days while wiping residue off. Then i banded it with a 2 millimeter wide there band black/gold band set and homemade pouch from a old leather couch.<br><a href="http://imgbox.com/abkX1c0P" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/abkX1c0P.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a> <a href="http://imgbox.com/acmIJQnu" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/acmIJQnu.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a> <a href="http://imgbox.com/aduDjKbs" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://t.imgbox.com/aduDjKbs.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a> <br><br>Thanks for your time guys and gals and Sling On

Thank you all for the kind words. As for trees we have them everywhere on the island of many varieties. This particular project was made from a fork harvested from our trusty plum tree that we have had for 25+ years.<br><br>As for how it shoots on a side note I am very pleased, and as for what is next on my plate I have a multi plex moor hammer in the making. Also would like to find a nice chunk of oak or arbutus to make a nice U fork.
