Hello

It´s been quite a while since i posted a Slingshot here.

To even that out i got two today

My aim was to make very light but solid frames. As i mentioned in one of my latest posts i like the look (and now the smell) of RedCedar a lot and wanted to try that wood.
Managed to buy a nice board with red and nearly white/yellow parts in it for maximum contrast.

The wood is very soft...you can create dents with your fingernails...so a pure boardcut wouldn´t survive strong bands i assume.
But since it´s so soft, the wood is very light. Aluminum was the perfect addition for it to create a light yet solid shooter.

The first Slingshot got a solid and thick Plamswell made of nearly perfect black Macassar Ebony. Nice contrast to feel that dense, heavy and solid wood next to the fragile Cedar.
Unintentionally the colors on the Backside are matching the German flag. Found that quite funny when i sanded it. So i named it "The German-Shooter"

The other one is pure light-build. For the Palmswell i went with
Aluminum again. I´m not a Fan of highly polished Aluminum, since it´s
too soft to keep that look very long when it´s used so i went for a
"brushed" look.
It´s also easier to keep the wood clean when you don´t sand it down to 1k grit.
For the cutout i tried to place the forktips in the bright parts of the board.
Because of the Aluminum Backside i gave it the Name "Silvernugget".

The
Pictures were taken after Sunset...the days are way to short atm for
me...i already wish spring would start again next week hope you like
them nevertheless
