Hey Guys,

you may have seen the aluminum cores i cut out a few days ago.
http://theslingshotforum.forumotion.com/t1351-some-cut-outs-i-did-today

I placed them aside for a bit because i was working on a purple heart hammer with brass...but after that project was done i began with the two aluminium cores.

I decided to create true "utility" Slingshots...nothing for a showcase etc. just something to carry around in my pocket.

So i bought some Birch - Multiplex (15mm i think) and laminatd it to the 15mm aluminum cores.

The 6-circle Design was fully laminated to turn into a Hammerhead Design.
I love to hold that Hammerhead Shooters, such a perfect grip and balance.

Fot the smaller Core which i designed during a break i went for a double-palmswell.
Kinda like a mini hammerhead...or you can call it a "Palmhammer".

It´s really fascinating how good it fits. With Thumb and Indexfinger around the Aluminumframe (added Fingergrooves) that little shooter fits the Hand like a glove.

Was fun to work with those "soft" Materials after working with amaranth and brass...sadly there were a few empty spaces on the inside of the multiplex...i filled them with sawdust and epoxy but it was a little bit darker...well i can live with that.

Shaped the Wood with a Dremel, sanded it down to 600 and put on a lot of wax to make it waterproof. polished the wax afterwards to get a nice and silky finish.

I just took some pictures and will band it up in a few minutes. I hope you like them!?

Well, of course there are always some other materials mixed into aluminum to achieve the attributes you are looking for, but that all happens in certain borders.

i think it might have to do with the way how you worked on it. those core were just milled and i only went over the survace a few times with sand paper.
polishing makes no sense imo, because it darkens the wood and you can´t avoid scratching it anyway. So keep trying, i bet you will come to a result you are satisfied with.

Thanks to all of you and especcially to Lanuzzi

Going to post a few picks of that Purple-Hammer soon.
