I bought some 1/4 inch ammo, but it's hard for me to grip something that small when I'm shooting so I'm getting some marbles. Anway, I decided to try a brass fitting as ammo (it's sitting on the can). The paint can did not stand a chance.

Looking good, i would look out for some 14 mm steel ammo or discarted ball bearings, they are a lot heavier than marbles and do more damage

Thanks onnod. I will definitely keep a lookout for bigger ammo. I may even try the taconite iron ore pellets I've seen on e-bay. They're $10.50 for 1000 rounds and about 3/8 inch in diameter. Not perfectly round, but probably ok for plinking. Pretty heavy too, I would imagine.

Roundness doesn't really matter, look at arturo's rods and the people who shoot hex nuts, those are nice and cheap too and do great damage, even more than round balls.

Yes, the hexnuts are fun to shoot too. For some reason the brass fitting went through the can, but not the nut... although it did start to make a hole.

Hi Stefan. Sorry for the confusion, I forget that most of you are from Europe

1/4 inch = 6.35 mm

3/8 inch = 9.525 mm (I think)

I've tried lots of different ammo sizes, and the one I think is perfect and is the nicest to shoot is 1/2" (12.5mm) steel. Not too big, not too small, easy to handle, and cheap.
