Hey guys.
I know this is one of the most asked questions, but I need to know for sure now: How do you finish your slingshot? I know, with sandpaper, but I want to know what after sandpaper

I've just tried superglue on mine, it's not a bad idea and it's cheap, only you can't get rid of it from the paintbrush so I had to buy a lot of cheap ones.
Oil is cool, you can't go wrong with it but it's not great protection.
I dunno about wax but I think it wouldn't last long?
Have tried staining polyurethane, stupid idea:) Ended up sanding it all off...

Hey, any more coating ideas? I'd like to try everything!

First you can stain it with tea for example - a couple of rubs with hot teabags, wait till it dries, sand off with wet sand paper and go again with the tea. The more you repeat this the nicer wood grain you will have.

Then comes the linseed oil, just dunk it in if you have a lot or put it on with a brush, tampons, whatever.
Both these steps are unnecessary but they enhance the nice woody patterns on your fork, you can go straight to this one:

And now superglue - just cover it with anytype of superglue as long as it's cyanoacrylate, wait till it dries off a little, put on another layer, wait till it dries off. If it's shiny then good, if matte then put on another one. Don't worry about the little particles of rolled superglue on it:) Now sand it off with 320 sandpaper, don't do it too hard or you will scratch off the coating. Polish it with finer and finer paper till the coating is nice and smooth. I go till 1200 grain and then steel wool.

When your done with your steel wool you can do fireworks from it like this:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-EbVHZHvXc&feature=related

That's it, should be shiny if you do it right and the coating will last long.

I don't have much money, so I use baby oil then candle wax. Baby oil is just scented mineral oil which is good for finishing. Candle wax... well it's just wax like any other. Literally rub the candle over the slingshot and polish it off. Do that several times.

PandaMan
