hi guys i know Joerg had made a vampire slayer well it got me thinking you see i work part time as a visiting minister and i thought that i should have some form of vampire protection.
so i thought id come up with a celtic cross that is large enough to fit in my hand using the side arms as the mounts for the thera band and it fires a wooden arrow through a hole right in the middle.
its rough dimensions are 25cms high by 19cms wide and im hoping to shoot either a 8mm or 10mm hardwood dowel with it.
the timber is 25mm marine structural ply i picked up at the local transfer tip that was an off cut from the local marina.

as soon as i figure out how to upload some pictures ill put them up

oh any advice along the way id greatly appreciate this is the first time ive tried to make a slingshot that was out of the ordinary and that fired a stick/arrow
thanks neil

:cheers:If in doubt place it between rubber and shoot it

this is the design for the vampire sling shot in the attachment its a celtic cross that shoots a silver tipped arrow/bolt through the centre of the cross.
im still figuring out how to upload the pictures ive taken of it as it is being made.

yes it is not as powerful as Joerg's but the cross itself should scare the vampire stiff so i can am at the heart of the creature before being bitten.
or start getting used to regular trips to the local blood bank mmmmhhhhaaaawwwww:eek:

perhaps a vile like a stink bomb filled with holy water that attaches to the front of the shaft might work hey.

i like the idea they used in the underworld movies of UV rounds in bullets ptiy they cant be sourced

    i like that design
im hopefully trying to avoid fletching by adding enough weight (sharpened metal) at the business end of the shaft to try to keep it straight.
failing that ill re-design the center to hold a whisker biscuit and add fletches even if it is two just to try and create stability in flight like crossbow bolts are perhaps they could be long and narrow rather than short stocky to minimise the center hole.

maybe if the vials of holy water can be made i could add garlic essence for that extra bit of potency :)
ps at the moment still have things on hold i think sawdust dust and pneumonia probably dont mix well lol

Maybe make the center of the cross larger and add a whisker biscuit in the hole, then you could still use regular wooden arrows soaked in holy water and blessed.

yeah that is what ill do if i cant get the shafts to work either that or scrap it and start a complete new one.

was looking in a sally store today and bought an old fondue kit complete with the little fork things they should be ideal for the end weight for the shafts.

I don't think that you have to scrap it. The toothbrush idea is great. Maybe you can cut the hole and apply the brushheads on the remaining pods...

got the slingshot finished and tested it today the shaft flew for about 8 meters straight then it started to tumble.
i played around with fetching made from duct tape and it flew dead straight for almost 12 meters but would still try to tumble, i think it needs weight in the front then probably stronger bands.
ill put a picture up soon

ive put a 60mm by 6mm stainless steel screw that is sharpened to a point in the end of the shaft not exactly silver but the weight has stabilised the flight even more.

has anyone got the recipe for holy water? i got told just get a big pot of water and boil the hell out of it :p might add garlic to the water as it is boiling better to be safe than sorry lol

oh forgot to add the range is now accurate to 15 meters keeping the arrow/dart within a 7.5 centimetre circle, kind of figured that size would be about the same size as a vampires heart;)

Nice Slingbow, I love the Design :) From Dusk till Down like :D
I think you can google the phrase and bless the water but Wikipedia says:

Holy water is water that has been sanctified by a priest for the purpose of baptism; the blessing of persons, places, and objects; or as a means of repelling evil
    Unofficial uses
Holy water has also been believed to ward off or act as a weapon against mythical evil creatures, such as vampires. In eastern Europe, one harboring this belief might sprinkle holy water onto the corpse of a suspected vampire in order to destroy it or render it inert.[33][34] Thereafter, the concept proliferated into fiction about such creatures.
