I did try and cut this core from aluminium and it turned out horrible so today I gave it another go with G10 and it cuts like butter in my small cnc.
As you can see this design has come a long way, I start by printing my designs 8mm thick and then trying them out, next to cut that black heart sassafras on the cnc to make perfect fit scales then round then off and sand them out.
Well I finally finished it, came out well for a first attempt but plenty of lessons learnt, need to add more glue to the pins, need to use more grades of sand paper and I need to stabilise the wood before trying to radius the edges with a router
