I just came across a couple of 8 ounce bottles of 30 minute epoxy and hardener in my old modeling supplies. Both bottles are in the original blisterpack and neither bottle has ever been opened. Both appear to still be as liquid in the bottles as they were.

So my question to those with more experience with epoxy - is this stuff still good? I'm guessing these bottles are at least 15 years old. But they are in great condition and still sealed.

Does epoxy ever go bad? How about after it's opened?

I'd love to hear from some experienced folks.

    Thanks

    Worst case:

    It wont harden or:
    It hardens instanly..

Why not just giving it a try?

(Is that "find" the "official version"- have you been out,
    controlled by the epoxybug ?? ;) )

    Greetings,

Did a quick search on boat forum a friend is a member of and apparently it doesnt matter how old it is as long as the hardener doesnt have water in it, condensation or the like. If its sealed, I would use it.

Good answers all. I'll go ahead and give it a try and see what happens. I hate to see it go to waste. There's slingshots to be built and a new band saw to break in!

    Thanks guys!

Yep, I've been waiting to add either a scroll saw or band saw to my tool arsenal for a few months now. My wife surprised me with the band saw. This is going to make those cuts so much easier. The jig saw, coping saw and other saws just weren't the best for the types of cuts I want to make.

A woman that buys her man a bandsaw is a grand woman indeed. Be blessed!

Without a doubt. Especially one that would voluntarily add another tool to a guy's collection that is already a bit on the large side (band saw and scroll saw excluded, of course).

    Thank you, WildBill!

And a big thank you to WithaK as well! (For taking care of one of
those women that could become "dangerous" for me ;) - bying
    tools! - a wise Lady :) )

    Greetings to all of you!

I hope you enjoy yourself and your families.- We are all visiting
an ex-wife of a guy i shared an appartment with as a student.-
She´s left alone with two boys, unable to assemble the new
table-tennis table.. called me up at 7:54h .. single parents
(especially women with two boys) are having hard times,
    painstakingly..

Maybe I should carry a soft sling (that I don´t possess) to
make the boys happy (and her mad?)

Absolutley Be, you must spread the 'infection', assuming, of course, you don't run afoul of a mother that is against such things ;)

    Wasn´t me!

    Hey everybody,

after having called his mom again to tell her we´ll be there around noon,
I asked her if she would allow the boy to have a slingshot.. Some
lady around just left the shower, but still had to dry her hair..

So there was it: the 20min. slingshot challenge..
10 mins for the bands, 10 mins for the wood..
    spreading the disease..

(we left the house with a soft sling, returned without it..
guess the 10 year old boy is lost! :) )

He´s happy, made his first 50 shots with beans.

:) I will of course accept it.- If no one forces me to work-
by paying me lots of money.. (but there will be enough time
    for no excuses, I guess..)
