if it's good wood and has been dried evenly without splitting it would do fie, I'm after getting some nice wood to make a set of scales for my Vicorinox Skipper, I don't really like the blue plastic handles, a nice bit of polished wood seems a far nice option! <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2">

You might try calling around to cabinet contractors who install DuPont Corian counter tops. The piece that they cut out where the sink goes just gets thrown away. It's not plywood but super strong plastic that looks like granite. I've used it to make electric bass guitars. It's pretty bad ass. Like 100 colors.

Not really like Dymondwood but that looks very nice. If you do a Google image search for "Corian pen" you'll see some good examples. I have also used it for knife handles. Corian is made from polycarbonate. The same stuff as bullet proof glass. I'm going to make a bill Hayes polymer Pocket Predator style sling shot out of a piece of gray Corian I have lying around. The Corian is easy to work with. It cuts easy with a jig saw and is easy to file and polish.
