    Hi All,

I have a question in my head for a long time. Are figurative slingshots interesting? Do you like to shoot with those or just think of them as collectibles? Please let me know if you have an opinion about this topic.

What themes if so? Forest; animals; abstract shapes derived from organic forms; mythic nudity; zombie chunks?

Made a simple sketch for fun, to start the thread :D

If it were comfortable to hold, and accurate, I'd shoot it.

Agree with Jeremy, needs to be comfortable to hold and shoot.

As to themes, field, forest would be my #1 pick, zombie would be my last choice. I suspect that at over 60 I'm "beyond" the whole zombie thing. And if zombies ever did show up needing to be killed in large numbers I'd want a slingshot that could deliver power and accuracy more than I'd want one that looked like a zombie, if you get my drift.

    Best of luck to you!

I love figurative stuff, as long as they keep their capacity!
Nice drawing! Maybe Lars would like it more... Loos like his symbol!
I love epic/medieval/ viking style stuff. Like some DUNGEONS & dragons magic weapons.
I also like cyber/futurist style. And mad max/apocalyptic too.
Skulls are so nice and decorative..... The real symbol of the human race. So many ideas.....

Figurative slingshots are not for me. I like naturals and some of the amazing board cuts I've seen. Love your "simple" sketch. Anything I draw looks like it was done by a three year old.

I see designs like this the same way I see figurative knives, etc. Great to add to collections, but I rarely come across one that's comfortable enough for practical use. That said, I would like a slingshot that is stylized based more on iconic symbology than on a character. Take Lord of the Rings for example. I loved the designs, shapes and symbols of the elves of Lothlorien. I'd love to see something inspired by that.

BV did not just say D&D...I loved that as a kid. A stylized Elvin slingy would be kickass!

well, thinking of figurative knives and other stuff friends of me and i had, i'll say they were more likely shelf items, never used. might be a reason that the quality was never good enough to be used and that they were made and meant to be as an eyecatcher only.

favorites were in the categories fantasy, future, space, cyberpunk and past ages.

Yes, it does seem a shame to make weapons that are not fit for purpose.

    Sullivan

Sullivan said that form ever follows function..
to me this is crucial concerning authenticity.
And it enables a designer to concentrate on
exactly just what is necessary to realize whatever function
and omit everything else, which results in clearity
    and sharp contrast.

    my confession

I love figurative slingshot but if i had one of those i will not use it. I would think: fork hits, drop risks, loosing it, omg someone stole my precious, my bro is in the neighborhood,... Too many variables( last one is the worse that could happen)!
Wild animals, mangas, tribals,... is what comes to my mind to add at other members list.
    P.S.: Great drawing as always.

BeMahoney great idea, but I'd see it as more of a Pickle fork shooter!
