Hey guys!
I though I would join as I am slowly becoming more modern in my interests. My name is Ben, I'm 16, and I live in Washington, USA. I started two years ago and mastered the sling, as in the original one. Swing around your head, launch rocks, ect. Then I moved on to the crossbow. I have had lots of fun with it! I have learned spear throwing, knife throwing, and axe throwing. I really enjoy target shooting/throwing an found the slingshot channel on youtube whilst searching for some info on my crossbow. I'm hooked! I am ready to make my own but don't know where to start. I am thinking the simple metal crossbow is for me. Seems fairly easy to make and cheap which is good! I have a question though; can I use surgical tubing? Or should I buy specific slingshot bands?
Cheers!
Ben

Hello and welcome Ben.
About the surgical tubing i think it is ok for a slingshot but i don' t know if it is the best choice. HERE zwillie started a topic about drainage tubes, he might be able to give you more details about that.

Greetings and welcome to the forum. Theraband and theratube are better than surgical tube but surgical tube works for slingshots. I made a wrist braced slingshot that has a harder draw than my 76 pound compound bow that uses a double loop of surgical tube on each side.

Thanks for the welcome and info guys! I just ordered 2ft green thera tube to see if it will work for a small slingshot I want to make. Also I just finished my first slingshot! I will be posting a picture soon. It is a natural that I whittled this afternoon.
