That was close, you missed by 1 mm or something , i wish i had such a aim when my crossbow was still working.

  3. Off by 1/16th of an inch, still a kill shot to a deer! How often do you shoot your crossbow? I only have a pistol crossbow myself but at the archery range here where I live I never see people that accurate, they miss by inches not milimeters.

Crossbows and sights requires a lot of tuning ... also you must know your arrows "grouping" ... it's not just take a crossbow and start to shoot ... mike I have 3+ years shooting the crossbow, in my youth also had a bow and participated in some tournaments ... so lot's of practice ...

  5. So they really are like a rifle then? I've been shooting bows and rifles for years and because of it I am a pretty good shot, but not so much with my newly made slingshot. I always knew that with any kind of shooting it was practice, practice, practice. That's why i was curious how often you shoot. The people I see missing their marks shoot maybe a week before hunting season each year. They don't actually practice so they don't get any good. I was just curious about how much time I should spend with a crossbow to start shooting like I do with a rifle.

crossbows are a lot more easy than a slingshot (less variables) and that is why I enjoy slingshots, but are a completely different beast than a rifle, the bullet of a rifle flies almost flat where the crossbow do a parabolic trajectory, also arrows are affected by wind (more than a slingshot ball) ... rifle practice I guess helps (I've shooted a rifle only a couple of times), but no way to expect the accuracy of a tuned rifle at more than 20 meters ...

  7. Awesome thank you! This is the best info I've ever gotten on a crossbow. As I said I have fired rifles and bows for most of my life (since 6 or 7 for the bow, 9 for the rifle), but I have never had the oportunity to shoot a crossbow (aside from the little pistol i bought from amazon.com) before and was thinking about making one soon as I will be making a couple long bows soon anyway. But if accuracy is only to about 20 meters I won't be hunting with it, I'll just use it for target shooting. My blowgun is accurate to further than 20 meters so a crossbow will go on the "target shooting" shelf. Thank you again for all the information.

Well, not to say that crossbows are useless for more than 20 meters ... there are many fine (and expensive) crossbows that shoots well even at 50+ meters, but not mine, and as I use to take only small game (rabbits) accuracy is a MUST ...

  9. Oh ok. I didn't know the power of your crossbow (I thought it was for deer as that's what most poeple here hunt with them, sorry for the assumption), you really are a crack shot if you are hitting rabbits at 20 meters! And quite stealthy i am guessing too.

It's a 175 lb crossbow, rated at 245 FPS (same as a good slingshot), here is only legal to take rabbits (a plague) with whatever the weapon you like ... time ago rabbits were infected with a disease (don't remember the name) who reduced the population to 10%, but from about 10 years they came up again, ... that's why is so disgusting seen animals wounded by airgun pellets and snare traps (cut legs), I've wrote many letters to authorities without result ... shame for us ...

  12. Sadly when an animal is seen as a pest they lose all thought toward their suffering or mistreatment. it is a disgusting practice not only employed in your area, there are several animals here in the united states that are also allowed to be collected by any means of take. (Any legal hunting weapon or method) And there are no punishments for maiming the animals and letting them wonder off as far as I know. It is very sad.

  14. Yeah people do crazy things with slingshots I have been beyond impressed with them. I always thought of them as toys when I was younger (certainly not capable of hunting small game) but I see how powerful they actually are and I see people doing things like this with them. And this and it boggles my mind.

I never shot with a crossbow, only with a pistol one, but it looks like a lot of fun to shoot with. Yours looks pretty cool and that sight on it, wow.
