Hey,

i managed to get my hands on a few pieces of solid copper via ebay a few weeks ago.

I like that material a lot...very soft...but the looks...and the history of copper too...entire kingdoms were build and destroyed just with copperweapons...so i was glad to try it too.

I wanted to try something similar to Hrawks MBBS Shooter. A simple, yet effective design.

I also took pictures of the build progress to so some kind of buildlog...i posted that on the other forum, can do a quick summary here too if you want.

Well, here is the result. Simple Hammergrip shooter, mainly to pay hommage to the material, i have enough shooters already. Before i can band it up i think i have to chamfer more then 0.5mm to prevent the rubber from ripping too soon...but the weight of nearly 1.2kg makes it a very solid shooter i bet.
And the material is always warm and nice to handle. I´m not sure if i want to file some more angles and stuff...and sand/glasspearls-blast it afterwards. At the moment i´m happy with the surface and i will wait until it gets enough patina...might look good with that.

That is awesome!! And excellent photography as well! And nice machining.
Bet that was pretty pricey given the cost of copper these days and shipping !
Maybe to keep with the "flat" angles theme, you could put a 45* bevel with a 2mm face to help protect the bands?

Very nice! Looks fantastic, and very different.

I would at least round the fork tips so this is a fuctional shooter. No further surface work needed. Patina will kick in anyway.

    Thanks for the Feedback Guys.

True Jörg, i think i don´t have the passion to keep it always shiny...very hard to do with copper anyway because it´s so soft. So i did not go the "polishing way".

On top of that i like the machining marks, gives some character i think.

It´s true tho, unless i don´t use very slim bands i can´t band it up until the forktips are much smoother. I think i will do that in a while. Because of the weight it has a very new feeling; sits very solid and steady in the hand and i think when you pull at the rubber the chance to cant that thing are very very low. A lot of the weight is in the handle.

I just saw i missed some kind of scale in the pictures, it´s not as big as you might think, just a good hand-full

I also took a few pictures during the build, can upload a few if you are interested.
