Hi all.<br>This is my project that I have been working on for the last few days, its a bronze age spear. The spear shaft is made of hazel and I made a grip from bound string. The spear head was going to be a arrow head but the attachment rod on it was a wee bit too big for an arrow, so I made a spear. The spear head is made out of bronze (melting point 950 Centigrade) so a furnace and propane torch were used to melt it. The spear is great for stabbing card board boxes, and for shooting with my slingshot. <br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=22&u=17920364" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i74.servimg.com/u/f74/17/92/03/64/img_0312.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=24&u=17920364" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i74.servimg.com/u/f74/17/92/03/64/img_0314.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=25&u=17920364" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i74.servimg.com/u/f74/17/92/03/64/img_0315.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br><a href="http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=26&u=17920364" class="postlink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://i74.servimg.com/u/f74/17/92/03/64/img_0316.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br><br>Here is the video of the casting of the arrow head, feel free to rate, comment and subscribe. <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png" alt="Very Happy" longdesc="1"><img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/star3.png" alt="Like a Star @ heaven" longdesc="21"><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><embed pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2YBKQZonEnU" width="425" height="350" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" quality="high" scale="exactfit"></embed>

At 10:30, when you took the fork and knife, i thought: " Oh my god, he is gonna eat it!! He can' t do that, it still too warm!!" <br>Then i saw you putting it in cold water and thought: " Stupid me, he is gonna cool it down first". <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" longdesc="15"><br>Very nice, mate. Sure you could make a bronze slingshot that way. Thanks for sharing the cool stuff.

Outstanding job and excellent video, Gabriel. <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_exclaim.gif" alt="Exclamation" longdesc="16"><br><br>My only other comment would be to <strong>consider getting a pair gloves</strong> to help <strong>protect your hands</strong> from accidents.<br><br>Maybe someone can offer suggestions on what type of gloves would be best for this type of work??? I saw a post on another forum, but don't remember where.

Gabriel, that's quite impressive. Thanks for sharing. Maybe some cast-yourself-something guru could tell us whether this method is safe enough to try that some day <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"> (no explosions etc.)

<span class="postbody"> explosions happen when water gets into the mould/metal, a dry mould like the one I used is unlikely to explode. <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png" alt="Very Happy" longdesc="1"></span>
