I attached some very light bands so that I could get the feel of it in case I needed to tweak any of the deminsions, but it seems to work pretty good as is. Now I just need to decide on a material and see how I do at cutting and shaping the real thing.

Thanks. That took a lot more work than it should have. If only I had a place to put a scroll saw.

Well, I might could come up with the physical space, but my wife probably wouldn't like sawdust in the carpet. I'm already expecting a complaint from the apt below me about all the crap that falls down through the floor boards of my porch.

<div>If you have a jig saw, clamp it upside down. you will find with the right blade you can do some pretty fine fret, and scroll work.also a vaccume hose near the head of the saw will colect most of your dust.</div><div class="clear"></div><div class="signature_div">

Any suggestions for a material? I think he standard high quality plywood might be best for my first try, but this design would look soo cool in one of the more exotic laminate materials. On a side note, I've noticed that it's hard to find micarta and g10 in the proper size and thickness for a slingshot. Most of it available in small quantities seems to be sized for knife handles and such. Mcmaster Carr hast micarta (they don't call it that) and g10 in small squares of about any thickness you want. The brown and black paper micarta comes in 6"x6" squares and isn't extremely expensive.

For thicker Micarta or G10, you could always buy a sheet of thinner stuff, cut it into sections, and laminate it together with some epoxy. Just make sure you rough up the surfaces before epoxying.

Yes, you can buy three or 4 thin plys of different shades according to the thickness you want, and laminate them together then carve.<br>The shades come out very cool when carved.
