Blowguns Fun for all ages

  1. First we will start with a list of materials, I will update with a step by step with pics as soon as I can find my camera. Now this is in no way the only or best way to make a blowpipe but it is the way I do it and I have been using mine for a few years now so they hold up well.

Bill of Materials -

- Metal Conduit (comes in 5 and 10 foot lengths usually) 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) in size
- Electrical Tape
- A permanent marker
- Epoxy
- Pair of Scissors
- 20 oz or 1 liter soda bottle
- Milk Jug Lids (1-3 depending on your choices)

  2. Ok the first step I can't get a picture of so I will try to explain it the best I can.

You want to sight down the inside of the conduit, you will notice (unless you found the "sweet spot" right off the bat) the pipe is slightly eliptical or maybe egg shaped, that is due to a slight flex in the pipe, rather than round. You simply want to keep sighting down the inside of the pipe and rotate it slowly until you view a nice circle. Mark the top with the marker. If I was too vague or anything please tell me and I can explain better.

Next I will do a how-to on making darts if you guys are interested.

Also I will gladly answer any question you may have on why I use the materials i do as well as giving more details about any steps if they are needed.

Some time back i made a blowgun. I just used a pipe and some homemade darts. What does the mouth peice do

  5. The mouth piece is maybe the most important part of all, it allows a good fit around your mouth which allows for more power on your shots than you can get without one.

Oh thanks and well fargo takes a percent of you money when you put it there i beleive its like 35% thats what my mons bank takes

  7. I have a "student" account because of my gunsmithing classes. They don't charge me yearly or monthly to have an account or a percentage. They just randomly make withdrawls from my account.

  8. I wonder if I shipped one of my blowpipes or "blowguns" to Jeorg if he'd test it over his chrony for me....

PS: The reason for there being so many locations for the pics in my build (it only took me maybe 10 minutes) and for my daughter's "sippy" cup being in a few of the shots was she kept throwing the darn thing at me. I had to keep changing rooms to dodge fire! She wasn't happy at not being allowed to help me cut, measure, and glue. She's deffinatly a shop kid lol.

Thank you for the tutorial. I have a small aluminium pipe which I want to use for such a blowgun.

  10. by small what diameter do you mean? as length isn't too much of an issue. (I have fired blowpipes from a few inches in length to around 10 feet (a little over 3 meters) in length. the most improtant part is diameter. (something like 1/4 inch (7mm i think?) is usually too small)

The pipe is short, maybe the diameter is a little bit to big.

  12. 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) is good from about 2 feet to 10 feet. if it's in the under 2 foot range you'll want smaller than 1/2 inch unless you have strong lungs.

  15. @tokSick: Glad you liked it, I have been making these things for years now but never put a how-to together until onod mentioned wanting one. So thank him, he is the reason I had the motivation to do this lol.

@22lr: working on it, I just need to get my money back from them before I can put it in another bank lol.

Im going to make one and put a scope on it

  18. Scopes are useless on a blowgun. They do not have a flat trajectory so a scope would only be useful out to about 20 feet I think.

  20. the "scope" on my personal blowpipe is made out of a piece of string with hash marks drawn down it. Sort of like a floppy ruler, it works by my using the hash marks as an aim point (they are measured out to different distances)
