My first board-cut in a while.
I had an old Peer-Sorenson black heart sassafras cutting board laying around, that was the base of an electronics project.
There was a lot of workable wood in there so I dug out some of my older drawings and stenciled this little baby out.
Cut it out on the bandsaw and then rounded the edges over with a file, gave it a sand and soaked it in BLO overnight.
    Waxed it this morning.
The whole thing is 11cm tall by 6.7cm wide with a 6cm fork width.

Coolio, I always expected blackheart to be... well blacker. I like your design too, I'm making my own pfs and its almost done but I don't wanna say too much it might give away the surprise. I will say the name I have in mind for it is The Jackelope

You've been a busy boy during your holiday Ob1iv1Aus! I like this PFS, great shape and that's a really great piece of wood. Nice work sir. Have you banded it up and shot it yet?

Its not black as it's not heartwood (black heart = dark heartwood)
I'm interested to see this"Jackelope", aleays keen to see things named after mythical creatures.

    Thanks AngelicScars and Jeremy!

Oh yes! Very busy indeed, one more project to show off before I return to work on monday!
I've banded it up but havent shot it yet, natural latex bands don't like the australian summer sun much, have to wait till later in the day

I'm a big fan of recycling, I hate to see anice piece of timber go to waste!

    Thanks flipgun!

    Very nice indeed!

I need to get schooled on these different shapes I keep seeing. The woodgrain looks really sweet, and Ilike your builder's mark too.

I need to come up with my own mark soon and get busy building my first fork since the early 1970's. I'm getting my tools together and some ideas are making me anxious to get started. been busy with my job lately though.
