    Hey,

This is my third natural slingshot. I had a few problems with it, like cracking of the wood. I first tried to let it dry naturally but it cracked, so I microwaved it anyway.

The sling doesn't have a finish yet. Should I give it some RLO coats?

I hope you will like it.

I really like the fact its so white! Maybe just a clear wax to keep the colour?

Nice even fork too. Looks good :)

How about a CA finish? It wouldn't change the colour and would stabilise any small cracks. Win win!

John, I sanded the cracks out with my dremel.

VW, I can't find any (cheap) superglue around here. Does woodglue work?

Flipgun, I do have candles. Can you explain how to coat it with candle wax? And does it have a nice finish?

If you have a scrap peace try practicing with scraps and see how different finishes work and see what you like.

Noah, PM me your address and Ill send you a load of the superglue I use. :)

Like Beaver said practice on some scrap first. There is nothing worse than making a great slingshot then getting the finish wrong!

Try on a scrap piece Just use a white candle and rub it on the wood then buff with an old sock. it does make a nice finish, you may have to do several coats.

A finish that I really like is the wood balsam that Scoobs sent me, gives a silky matte finish.

Dammit! I could have sent some of that if I had been thinking! Im a little obsessed with CA at the moment, ah well. Next time maybe.

Glad you like the balsalm though :)
