I am new to slingshots but I am very intent on making a well functioning slingshot, I have been using the blueprints for the "fantastic wooden slingshot". I have started figuring out specifications but one thing which i do not know about is the size of steel ball i should purchase. As I very much want to do do this properly and not guess around I am using the "theraband gold calculator" my specs will be 90cm draw length, 6 for strength, 6 for tapering and finally steel balls as they work and are affordable/easy to acquire.
I now want to know any tips if I'm doing something wrong above^ and the size of steel ball that would be recommended .

i find 12 and 14 mm steel balls the best, but you can go highter too, 16, 18 and 20 mm work great too

12mm lead balls are best, buy a mould off ebay get some lead and put an old cast iron pasn or any bowl that wont melt before lead. Make them on your house fire, you wont get poorley off gases or anything because it goes up the chimney. They kill the best too if you want to go hunting. They are cheaper and fun to make.

I think you will be happy with those 14s using the theraband. The .38 Cal steel (9mm I think) give me wicked handslaps unless the bands are cut thin. The calculator is definately your buddy.

I like the heavy stuff like Mattyboo--maybe because I can see it hit the target better slower. The ball out of a trashed computer mouse is 31grams of destructive heaven

I like 10mm and 12mm steel balls. I think you got to try different size and find out the one you are more comfy with. I started with rocks, marbles and then different steel balls size. The purpose of it is important, i think. I shoot at cans or papper targets, i don' t need bigger then 12mm.
