Hi,

I wondered if I could get some advice. When I was a kid my Dad passed on his slingshot to me, and over the years I went through a couple of different types of band, ending most recently with what you see in the pictures. I remember my favourite being a black tube which wasn't too hard to pull back but was stretchy and accelerated my ammo very quickly. I want to replace the solid rubber (which I can only get to stretch about 30%) with some decent all-purpose tubing.

I was looking at getting some Theratube, but I don't know which colour would be best. Ruggedness and decent speed are my main requirements, as I don't want to be constantly replacing it. I'm mainly going to be plinking and/or shooting paintballs with my younger brother-in-law, so I won't be using heavy ammo - stuff like gobstoppers, small stones, and paintballs, primarily.

Once I have the tubing, what would you recommend as the best way to attach it to my particular slingshot? As you can see from the pictures, it's taken quite a beating over the years so there are a number of nicks in the metal.

Thanks!

Try tubing from Dankung or Kugel Winnie. Also surgical tubing would be a good option. Thera tube yellow is fine too. Red is hard to pull and slow.

http://www.kugel-winnie.de/epages/62136757.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62136757/Categories/Zubehoer_fuer_SchleudernZwillen/Material_fuer_den_Eigenbau/%22Rundgummis%20Dankung%22

http://www.dankung.com/emart/dankung-slingshots-rubber-tubingband-for-slingshot-c-90_71.html?zenid=fq2021lqjuimijh25vu4513qg4

http://www.lab-laborfachhandel.de/labwareii/schlaeucheverbinder/index.php

I would try Dankung as well. The prices aren't too high, and bands are of good quality. That's my experience.

Does it have to be tubes? The rounded fork tips would work quite well with TherabandGold Flatbands, attached OTT fashion. Faster, lighter to draw, and probably fewer fork hits because the ammo goes through the fork higher.

Theratube yellow and Dankung tubes would work rather well. Alternatively, you could also simply buy Trumark replacement bands. For lightweight ammo, the red tapered tubes would be really good.

Flatbands OTT would deliver the best performance, but they wouldn't look very nice.

Thanks so much for the replies. How would you suggest I attach the tubing? Also, which tube would you recommend? There are so many choices at the Dankung website.

Thanks!
