Pretty similar, but no "string stopper"... ouch! The guy must have forearms made out of stone.

That rubber kicks really hard.

I really like that this almost looks like a traditional bow. So simple to make, aside from making the string look pretty. I'm no good with knots.

rubber does not hit on the hand if the arrow is at the correct weight - it's exactly like the handslap.

but my slingbow have above 40 lb - mayby if have more need "string stoper"

With the spear gun rubber, you need a string stopper.

But it is also good for accuracy - the release of the arrow from the string is far more uniform with a string stopper.

Nice and simple slingbow. It looks easy to make too. Do you know where i can find a tutorial to make those strings? Like CapitainBacon i am not good with knots. I could try another way to do that but i am sure it will not be as good as yours.
Thanks for the vid.

There is a strange coincidence with this thing. The other day I saw a toy at walmart that is made with a very similar concept. I remember thinking about how amazing it was that someone would actually design the toy that way, and how it could be replicated as a serious weapon. Take a look, and I think you will be impressed that there is such a toy for children.

http://zingtoys.com/air-storm/z-curve-bow

Funny that cbsmith111 mentioned those toys, I've beenwanting to buy one here and try to reverse engineer it into a serious weapon, but it seems Jorg beat me to it once again. I love this 120 lbs bow, I hope to make my own soon as I can get more arrows and rubber.

This is a better version of cbsmith111 idea.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifZ_uEmGhCY
This is an inswinger variant, you could do an outswinger variant.

Problem is the stopping of the arms when they "swing".
Maybe JorgeS "string stopper" is a better solution.

2 questions for Jorg though, can you name the type of rubber for the 25lbs draw and the name of that contraption you use to draw back, thanks!

I am using Thera Tube Black for the 25 and 50 lbs variants (single for 25 and double for 50).

The device is called a bow release. You can buy it inexpensively in any archery store, or online. It is often used for accuracy, but also for short bows. The string angle can get very steep, making it very hard to draw out a strong but short bow with your fingers.

Thank you very much Jorg! I'm crazy mad in love with Bows and archery and try to obtain as much information on them as I can, I've always wanted to make my own bow and now with the information you have provided me, I can build a starter from wood and rubber! Thanks!

I have a question for you Joerg, what thickness speargun rubber did you use to achieve 120 lbs.? And if I were to use a smaller thickness do you think i can pull around 60?

I'm making a hunting bow... thera band black tube doesn't seem like It can take out a deer or penetrate a skull in a zombie apocolypse.

Also, how did you attach the 50 lb. black tubes? Do you have a video showing?

So I am going to build Joerg's version but currently I only have a roll of theraband gold and a length of theraband gray tubing. I'm sure the gray tubing would be similar to the black tubing and pretty sure the strips would be fine. However I was wondering if anyone saw a reason why I could not use the couple strips of theraband gold instead of tubing?

Thanks!
