I picked up an idea from a fellow slinghooter who was once active here,
    but isn´t anymore.
In his youtube video he mentioned a fishing rubber tube that
looked quite like the rubber tubes that some people
use for attaching pouches to rubberbands and such.
    [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pRH7fn3Mes[/ame] (sorry, german only)

I asked him about the rubber and he posted me the link,
but i was too lazy to go to the fishing store and ordered a different rubberstring online.
The one i ordered was not a tube, but a latex string.
I should read the description more carefully:rolleyes:

Well, since i had the latex, i started to set up a looped rubber string
and made a tiny pouch from kanguru leather.
The first model was too tiny, and the BB slipped out almost all the time... so the second model is slightly bigger.
It weighs about 0,26g so about the same as my BB´s.
The latex string is 1mm in diameter and it´s quite fiddly to attach to the
frame. ( at the pouch i simply used a loop to save the weight
    of additional string.)
I punched a small hole in it for centering and now it works pretty fine.
    And it is surprisingly fast.
It puts a clean hole through cardboard from 3m away.
I hope to do some chrony tests at the weekend and compare it to theraband.
I am not sure if i can do videos... but at least i will report :)

    Here are some pictures.

you should try to go through 6mm steel balls instead of the plastic BB's.. I had this today with a new slinghsot, the plastic BB did not even leave a significant mark on an empty beer can, same setup, with 6mm steel went right through. Especailly for a high speed setup (700% of stretch) very small but dense ammo is the key

The point of shooting BBs is that you can shoot without damaging something :D.

That is actually a quite interesting point of view. Never thought about this (OK sometimes after fork hits that almost damaged our glass door), because I just get my pleasure from shooting a slinghshot if something is going to be destroyed at least a little bit :p

I definitely understand that. My way to slingshots was watching Jörg´s
Videos smashing stuff... the bigger the impact,
the more fascinating it was to watch.:D
My alltime favorite is the rooftop shooter that puts a 20mm steel ball
though a kitchen counter board...that´s when the addiction started :D

And Juggalo´s 40mm Leadballs (almost)knocking down the shed always
    makes me smile.

But i like shooting indoors... especially in winter... and i don´t want to smash glass or doors or flatscreens... therefore i use rubberballs and BB´s. Enough to destroy cardboard boxes :)
Pathetic...i know, but still fun :D

Well, that sound exactly like my reason for being here, except that my favourite vid is the one, where Joerg shot a bowling ball on a stone... and actually broke (also) the stone.

At his time, I also do indoor shooting, but I need to take a lot of care to catch all of my 1/2 inch steel bearing balls. My consumption for cardboard boxes and styropor is quite high ;-)
Do you see any differences in shooting with leightweight ammo instead of larger steel ammo?

Those shrapnells of that blueish ball almost hit me..

That session definitely was one of the best days last year!

The most impressive thing was the way, that ball exploded. The axial symmetry was just beautiful... and scary ;-)

The only difference is the peace of mind, that, if something goes wrong, nothing is dead, damaged or hurt :). And yes, i wear safety glasses when shooting BBs as well... i like my eyesight very much;)

A BB makes a satisfying sound on the cardboard as well as a steel ball
and hammering a cal .68 rubberball into cardboard, shot from 2-3 meters in full butterfly, is definitely a nice sound:D. (it usually went through both sides of the box and hits the curtain behind it ;))

But shooting steel is definitely the top of the class... the damage on non-cardboard targets is very satisfying... like cans or glasbottles.
Unfortunately i have little opportunity for that... :(

    Hi Be,

Ich schau mal wie die dünne Schnur hier abschneidet. Vielleicht komm ich auf dein Angebot zurück, danke. :)

It was a long fight, but i actually managed to take a video when shooting over the chrony.
Not much talking... only the chrony + sound:rolleyes:
Well, i have to work on my presenting skills :D

But at least i can confirm, that the strings generate some decent speed with BB´s.
    + some shots with paintballs

I like your comment at the end ;-)
I also did some test shots with BBs, but my bands might be too oversized for this. Except of handslaps and unsatisfying hits way off my target I could not achieve. I need to take a tour to the wood
