Many of you have probably hear of the PSE TAC15 crossbow that fits on an AR-15 or M16 lower receiver. <br><br><a href="http://www.tac15.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.tac15.com/</a><br><br>I think the idea is compelling! And since the lower receiver is an unregulated gun part here in Germany, it is not illegal to buy one and modify the heck out of it. I could even buy a deactivated "deko" M16 with a fully functional full auto lower receiver. <br><br><a href="http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=4165675" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=4165675</a><br><br><a href="http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=4329466" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=4329466</a><br><br>Now the idea would be to come up with a very slick looking rubber crossbow concept, with scope of course. <br><br>What do you guys think?

Very nice idea, i guess the problem is to connect the trigger unit from the lower to the trigger unit on your upper. <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" longdesc="2"> Anyway nice Idea!

Sounds cool, it would look nice with a little winch to pull the rubber.

Have bought the M16, original model with Full Auto switch. 1200 Euros.<br><br><br><br>Once it arrives, I will start to design the kit.<br><br>- Must look absolutely cool<br>- Must be able to shoot arrows AND steel balls<br>- Must be preloadable, so cocking is quick and easy<br>- Must be dead accurate<br>- Must be able to shoot armor piercing arrows<br>- Must shoot steel balls hard enough to break a coconut at 15 meters<br>- Must be totally silent<br>- Must be exchangeable against the conventional upper within seconds<br>- Must include a "magazine" that fits into the lower receiver, containing steel balls and spare rubber bands<br>- Must not cost more than 35 dollars in parts (plus assembly)<br><br>Quite a challenge, right?<img src="http://www.zib-militaria.de/WebRoot/Store8/Shops/61431412/509D/2FE3/3571/CC1F/FE3A/C0A8/29C0/BA9E/0741.jpg" border="0" alt="">

Ive been thinking about attaching airsoft M-16 pistol grips to your hex nut shooter, so I cant wait for you to design this M-16 based crossbow/catapult! Good luck Joerg! Please share your finished product! <img src="http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png" alt="Very Happy" longdesc="1">

Joerg why didnt you buy a Airsoft lower, for example I have a full metal SCAR, and I guess there are no major differences except for the upper recviever.

It sound really great ! I know you can do it !

  14. I agree a full metal arisoft lower would probably be cheaper but when you make it out of a proper gun then it will always be more epic!

Of course an airsoft lower would have worked just as well - however, I run an entertainment channel and must do what excites my audience. A real Full Auto M16 will no doubts be a lot more interesting than an airsoft part.

this is gonna be great!!!, As bert pointed out a quick band change feature is a must, like a band pre tied to a fork and then the forks would be quick change almost like bill hay's take down slingshots, does that make sense? or like a clip already on the band that would lock it to the frame.

Here are the first pcture of the build...

Will do a pure arrow shooter first, just to learn what works and what doesn't.

Removed the upper receiver and also the trigger/hammer assembly. Then I made a base plate from 18mm multiplex. Added a trigger and my usual lock, used a nail that I can bend into shape.

The lock works like a charm!

I will use two 16mm steel tubes as "barrel" and "rail" parts. The draw is 100% inline with the rails. I plan to make a cocking slide for fast action. This crossbow will be quick.

No changes to the original M16A1.

I like the concept. I like the progress. But using an expensive working rifle. Joerg, You are one Wild 'n' Crazy Guy!
