Hey all you slingalistic artists and marksmen!

I just had the idea to share shooting results in a compareable way!
    what do you think?

I thought it might be nice to "come together" for the best reason
(apart from sharing stunning slingshot designs!) - Which is shooting
    slingshots!

    Supposing everyone has:

1.) A printer, plus access to paper of a kind that the ammo used will penetrate
(or at least paper, a CD and a Pen)

2.) At least one functioning slingshot

3.) Fun to shoot at the paper 20 times to then make a photo and post it here

To make it easy, below I linked a .pdf document, which if printed centered,
WITHOUT "FIT TO PAGE" ACTIVATED should turn out the same
everywhere, no matter what size /format of paper used.

Alternatively proceed with a CD, Pen and any Paper:
Take the CD, place it on the paper, draw the outline and the inner circle on
the paper, using a medium width pen, to make sure the circles will be visible
    on the photo.

Then place that paper in front of you catchbox (or whatever)
shoot at it 20 times and make the photo to post here.

Supposing everyone has a slightly different shooting range, I think simply
writing the shooting distance on that paper by hand will enable everyone to
estimate where he stands, compared to the rest of the world. :)

    EVERYONE IS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE!
    (..and make 20 shots!)

(except Arturo and Bill Hayes, they shall make 40 shots to be fair :) )

I honestly hope you like the idea and join in!

    kind regards to the world,

    Be

I think that's a very good idea! Once I have build a catchbox, I will give a try.

    my #1

So, here is my first result (a bit unfocused.. first 10 shots intuitively to the
center, consistently low to the same spot, then more into the circle, altogether
    three "bull´s eyes". I shot 8mm steel.

    I will improve! - I promoise!

Here are my first twenty shot with these tubes tied ott. Before I always used tabs and every shot was a flier. It looks good to me! I just have to adjust my aim point and not be so excited. I bet you I'll have the small circle shot out by the end of the week!

    Respect!

    far better than me!

before I start a second attempt, I decided to build a little
(adjustable) contraption for separating steelballs by their size..

I am in the SHOP, haha (finally again!)

    kind regards,

    Be

P.s: Is that circle 120mm in diameter? - That pdf-file is DIN A5,
to make sure (that´s how I tought it might be easy to make sure)
that by printing with "Fit to page" turned off? everyone will have
the same result- which would be a circle of 120mm diameter..

I just hit print, and it turned out to be 155 mm in diameter. I'll try it the right way

I like this idea Be. I'll definitely give it a try as soon as I have the time to do it. One question - you didn't mention anything about what distance that target should be from the shooter. Are you looking for consistent results based on the same target, same distance? I see you did 5 meters and Rockslinger did 25 feet.

Should this be done from the same distance for everyone? 5 meters?

    Hey WithaK,

my thoughts behind not defining the "right" distance were those:

Everyone shall feel comfortable and shoot just like he "normally" does.

And I liked the idea of nobody being unable to join due to a lack of space..
(for me personally it would mean some "risk" to shoot more than rd. 8 meters,
e.g. 10 meters meaning to shoot through 2 doors..)

Plus maybe there´ll be some "common distance" found which is not 10 or 8..

I wanted it to be FUN!

    kind regards,

    Be

I like this idea a lot Be.

CDs got me thinking of other objects that are international, like BIC lighters.

Maybe a table of such objects would be handy info to compare energy delivered to the target as well as placement. Food can steel seems to be different thickness in different areas, so a way to compare apples to apples would be great.

    Great idea Mike!

This is exactly what I was trying to start; international comparison
(not competition by intention..) those BIC-Lighters are definitely a global
product! - I gave up on finding another inner circle for that target,
though paint spray cans might be international too?!- how about
food can dimensions?- those ought to be optimized concerning
    volume/surface ratio..
(Food cans here are 118mm high and rd 102 mm in diameter..)

    kind regards,

    Be

    Campbell's soup can (like in Andy Warhol)--305g : 102mm long, 67mm dia
    Ravioli can--425g : 112mm long, 75mm dia
    Enchilada Sauce--793g : 119mm long, 102mm dia

So yeah, the big ones seem the same. I'll mic the thickness when I get a chance.

Hey Be I hate the paper targets ... anyway I will not shoot 40 :p , 10 is more than enough to avoid the infamous "tennis elbow" ?

Should it be 10 shots either? (then 20 for Arturo and Bill?-
otherwise there will be only one hole if they´re done..)

Just tell me what you think, please. ( I honestly did think about
the elbow.- could be two or four sessions, each five shots?)

    Cheers to chile,

Be very good idea! BUT why are there only two rings on the printable one...everyone has the possibility to print one somewhere so why bother with the CD anyway.

If there are more rings like on a target for competitive rifle/gun shooting with values, everyone can keep their statistics(average, record...) and share them, and that way we could even have some unofficial leaderboards.

I think is just for fun, not a competition as you said so shooters should shoot distance and quantity they are comfortable to, I don't like to do many shoots the same way even more to a paper, but you made the rules so it's just a suggestion, could be nice to have many many posts ...
    greetings from Chile

    Great idea Be.

Love the trophy beaten up can in the picture. Hope to be shooting before lunch tomorrow. Wouldn't have been a good idea on Mothers Day.

What a cool idea, BE! Just a proposal: I would agree with Arturo - a reduction of shots - maybe to 5 or 10 would make sense. And for sure it is more fun to shoot at solid targets (Hey, we all know that) BIC lighters, why not....tho I don't smoke.... What about bottle tops. The German ones seems to have all the same diameter - 30mm
I've just had to make a stab at my maximum indoor range of 6 meter with 20 shots 7 mm steel and the Ninja-Tac McS single banded with GoldGym green:D
