Default Spalted natural

2nd natural I've done no just from some spalted wood. I believe it was oak however I'm not the best with wood and it had hardly any bark on the wood(I normally use the bark to tell what wood it is if it's just a fork on the floor) very happy with the finish just used olive oil as someone said it brings out the grain really nicely. Finished it with beeswax polish and buffed it up with my buffer.
The pictures are from first carving the shape to when it got oiled the first time then once the beeswax was applied and the last 3 are after a quick going over with the buffer. Interesting fork with some nice spalting! I don't think that's oak. Looks more like maple to me.

Thanks really wasn't sure to be honest what wood it is. Kept it simple but going to make my next one more slimlined.

I do likes some spalting! Well done, nice and chubby.

It is definitely NOT oak. However, I'm not certain it is maple, either. The color is right for maple, but the way that spalting moves through the wood makes me suspect that it's cottonwood. Are you located in the US by any chance? Such trees are common here, especially in the midwest region.

Hi Bill I'm actually in England West Yorkshire and thanks it's really comfy shame the fork handle wasn't a bit longer but it does look nice. Loving this little community and love making ad shooting my home made aswell .
