Default Hornbeam frame

Last week during vacation I made this little beauty. It is made of hornbeam wood that I oiled when I came home. It is very solid and also looks good

It shoots well either

The texture of the wood is interesting.
You have no bandgrooves at the forktips. No problems with slipping bands?

I haven't noticed any problems...I was amazed how amazing this wood looks when I peeled the skin of. Actually I had no idea which wood this is until my father told me

Cool little natty! I rarely use band grooves on my shooters. You shouldn't have any trouble.

A quick update on this shooter...yesterday I rebanded three slingshots and decided to make this natural frame a full butterfly shooter. In no time new bandset was cut and tied and than I tried to shoot it without any ammunition. Draw was interesting: not light, not heavy, long for sure. And than a release 🔥ouch...pouch straight into my thumb at full power.
Not a very pleasant feeling but I tried to shoot again...and again I hit my hand. I was in doubt if shooting steel would be okay but it turned out great. No hand slaps and a lot of power for a single band setup

Shooting with ammo causes no problems..completely free of handslaps and a lot of power. I don't know why I had to mention handslaps when shooting without ammo because it is irrelevant anyway
