Default 300 lb crossbow, integrated winch, 20mm caliber

Finished this thing today... it uses two 150 lb limbs. Insanely hard to cock even with the built-in winch. Great fun with the triple edge "Gedore scraper" tipped 20mm bolts!

I see you have come across my biggest turn-off with regard to powerful crossbows. You get the strength up to a point where it becomes useful, and the cocking mechanism has to be so bulky to accomplish the goal for the average person that it overtakes the elegance of the crossbow. Yours is nice and compact, but very few normal people can probably use it with success. 300 pounds will definitely generate some excitement.

How far can you shoot with it, when you use such a heavy projectile?
You need to remove the string after cocking?

This isn't long distance crossbow with the halfpound (220 gram) "Gedore" bolts. It is a short distance devastator. But the lighter nail tipped bolts fly pretty far. I guess it will reach the speed of the original Python crossbow (about 70 m/s) with a 50 gram bolt, twice as heavy as the original 25 gram bolt.

The string is simply unwound and secured to two screws in the front. But I want to replace the string with a rubber equipped cocking sled - ideally, after the cocking, you release the winch block lever (in top of the weapon) and the rubber bands reset the sled.
